The Buyer’s Guide to the Mazda BT-50

The features, benefits and options of buying a Mazda BT-50 Ute.

There’s a reason the Mazda BT-50’s motto is “built so you can do Ute”. Designed for work and for play, it’s this Ute’s customisable options that make it a more appealing choice for everyone from off-road enthusiasts to business high-flyers to young families.

Luke Camilleri, Aspley Mazda’s dealer principal and resident Car Man, has a beefed-up and black-out BT-50 that conquers tough offroad terrain while standing out in the crowd. When you buy a BT-50, you can design it to meet your needs too.

With a long history stretching back to 2006, the BT-50 has been through some important upgrades and modifications. During 2025 it went through its latest iteration, with boosts to safety features and entertainment options.

If you’re shopping for new or used cars in Brisbane, Aspley Mazda is sure to have the right option for you. We have every model of new Mazda vehicle plus a dedicated BT-50 Ute Centre.

The Mazda BT-50 is renowned for features like its fuel economy, five-star ANCAP safety rating and up to 3.5 kms of braked towing. Here is some other essential information about what to expect from this Ute.

BT-50 model grades

The 2025 Mazda BT-50 offers a more streamlined selection of models, with the manual options gone. Some new colours have been added to the selection, however, including Red Earth, Geode White and Sailing Blue.

The line-up’s current variants are:

XS: The entry-level BT-50 includes intelligent adaptive cruise control (iACC), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality (wireless and USB).

XT: Available in single cab, freestyle and dual cab, this model adds options like Rough Terrain Mode on 4×4 models.

XTR: The mid-range offering comes with a dual cab body, as well as 18-inch machined alloy wheels and LED headlamps with auto-levelling.

GT: Available in 4×4 only, the BT-50 GT adds a touch of luxury with features like heated front seats and an electric driver’s seat with an eight-way power adjustment.

SP: This top-of-the-line model comes with several glossy finishes plus Maztex and suede seats.

BT-50 features

What can you expect when you purchase the Mazda BT-50? Some of this vehicle’s finest features include:

A high-tensile steel chassis

Sturdy but lightweight, this Ute is built to handle just about anything you can throw at it.

The latest advancements in technology

The BT-50 is filled with assets and features that make it a pleasure to drive including heated seats, remote engine start, reverse camera and sensors and an LCD multi-information display.

Infotainment options

The BT-50 keeps the kids entertained on long car rides and lets you enjoy any sort of media you want. It includes Android™ Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay® via a 7 or 9-inch touch screen plus an eight-speaker surround sound set-up with two roof speakers.

Innovative safety features

Whether you’re parking backwards or backing in a trailer, the BT-50’s reverse camera and sensors helps you get the job done more easily. Its lane departure warning (LDW) sounds a warning when you stray from your lane at speeds over 60km/h, while its Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) scans your surrounds for hard-to-see vehicles and obstacles.

BT-50 benefits

There are plenty of advantages that come with buying a Mazda BT-50 including:

Strong and (near) silent

With new measures including more foam and better seals and carpeting, the BT-50 is a quieter, more graceful rider than ever before.

Serious safety

As the list of features above show, the BT-50 demonstrates Mazda’s dedication to you and your family’s safety. Designed with over 20 advanced technologies in the mix, it has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

A strong towing capacity

The BT-50 is capable of towing loads of up to 3,500 kg (braked).

Highly customisable

When you choose a BT-50, you can design it your way, much like our dealer principal Luke. Choose your own accessories from canopies to trays to lights to towing equipment. These genuine Mazda accessories have the company’s promise of quality and are built to last, and an accessory package can make it even simpler to enhance your Ute in a way that suits your style.
